Overall the day was good. A little chilly at times, but the snow condition and riding quickly had us forgetting about the cold. As for the Poker Run itself, I still am left thinking it’s fixed! We were among the first to submit our cards in the morning and even with my 3 queens on one card, and 2 pair on another, I was already beaten by a Royal Flush (something seems fishy there). Door prizes were supposed to happen at 2pm, however we were there at 1:45 and staying until about 2:30 and no door prizes. Hate to sound bitter, but I’m not sure I’ll participate next year. Possibly some better planning might help out.
Back to the riding though… It was just Rob and Dean and we found quite a bit of untouched powder to play in, and we even got a bit of sun during various times throughout the day. Hands down the trail ride back down brash was awesome. The road had been plowed for the logging activity, but had a recent snowfall on it so it was smooth as can be. We were even able to find some untouched areas on the way down that demanded us to tear it up!
The Hunters Range Poker is happening this Sunday (Jan. 30th). Who’s all thinking about going? We never seem to win anything, but who knows can win without playing.
Weather shows like it should be a good day, and I would think they will probably have the trail all groomed up.
Send in an email if you’re coming!
Report from Brad’s group:
The weekend was awesome, with sunny days all day. We went past the booth on the main road to about 16 km , that will be the place to go ever time. A little foggy in the morning, but the sun came out for the rest of the day. We rode in powder all day and even found some fields that were not touched. We all had a great day and got down from the hill at 4.30 we just didnt want to leave. We rode hard all day and got stuck a few times. We went all over the mountain , even to the top to the bottom, we rode every were and had a blast. Brendan at the end of the day rode my m8 around and around with his ass dragging in the snow , it was so funny to watch. There was Jesse, Jarrod , Brendan , Jason ,Brad. awesome day boys. We had a blast.
Had a great day in the powder out in the monashees. The sun was out the whole day and we had endless untouched powder to play in. After a long day of riding we got to relax a bit in the cabin while warming up before heading home. Unfortunately we had a trailer with a flat tire that added some extra time onto the day but we all made it back.
Riders: Rob, Bill, Kurt, Mike and Dave from Williams Lake
Look at all that new snow! Avalanche center reports high risk of avalanches this weekend, so stay clear of all slopes susceptable to slides. Better just to stick with the flats, and in the trees.
Location: Park/ Nelson
Meet: 7/11 on hwy 6 @ 7 am
Riders: Jason/ Brad/ Brendan/ Jarrod/ maybe 2 others.
