day 2: Results

We made it back in one piece.  It was nice to get out for the day on the sleds, but definately not as nice as the previous weekend (day 1).  Snow was about the same sitting at about 2.5 to 3 feet at the highest elevation on hunters.  There was quite a few land mines to watch for (rocks, stumps, etc.) but we all came through unscathed.

The weather was awful.  The forecast called for sunny periods, but we sure didn’t see any up there.  Matter of fact there was times where we couldn’t see 10 feet in front of us.  Once in a while it would break up though and visual clarity came back, at which time we tried to chew up as much powder as possible while we could see it.  We dropped down into the bowl just back the Gordon Sidney cabin, and turned around and came back out as the visibility was just too bad.

Next up – day 3!  (Need more snow though)

Day 1: Results

We all made it back in one piece and had a great day for the most part.  We decided to go up the King Fisher / La Forge side to get us to the good riding quicker.  The unloading spot was about 17km up the road with about 10″ of snow at that point.  The rest of the trail ride was good other than a few small creeks crossing the road that ate the snow away.

Todays group contained Rob (XP), Dean (Dragon), Brad (M8), Jason (M1000), Cory (Edge 900), and Jarrod (1M).  Brad vented a little frustration learning the new machine but did pretty good around.  Next time out you’ll be riding it like you did the M6.  Jarrod’s machine ended up with a broken pull start cord towards the end of the day, but that didn’t slow him down at all.  The rest of us had no big issues.

The snow measured in at about 30″ at best, however most of the nasty rocks and stumps seemed to be burried quite well.  Safe to say this officially marks the start of the season.

Reminder to everyone: Next time out, Beacons, Probes, Shovel and Radios.  Safety first!

Once I round up the pictures and fix the uploader here, we’ll get some posted. Might be a day or so.

Day 1

Sled loaded, fueled up and ready to go.  We should have a group of about 5 or 6 people which makes for a good start.  I see from the webcam that it’s snowing a bit right now and the weather for tommorow looks promising with a chance of some sun even.

I don’t know about you guys, but I can’t wait to fire it up in the morning.

Cya a Timmys for the morning coffee!
